What Will You Learn?

Neil Melanson, one of the world’s top grappling coaches, is back with BJJ Fanatics to show the catch inspired Snap Guard that can help you attack off your back in new and exciting ways.

Snap, tap, and wrap people up in submissions and locks they never saw coming with Neil’s help. Neil’s snap guard has transformed his students into some of the most dynamic and aggressive players in the world, and it can do the same for you with this new 4-volume instructional series based all around how the native wrestlers play guard.

The snap guard is built around taking the concepts and fundamentals of wrestling and using them to make a BJJ guard as dangerous as possible. Neil uses wrestling inspired attacks like the snap, the arm drag, the russian tie, and more to create some of the most innovative attacks and combinations we have ever seen. From his controlling positions, Neil has series and systems that even the black belts in his gym are left tapping to.

By combining these attacks with the snap threat of the hip heist to top position, Neil has a universe of moves that he can hit, all of which you can now learn in this 4-volume instructional set that any bjj practitioner will benefit from.

Neil brings a pretty different style to his grappling, mixing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, a deep knowledge of wrestling, Catch Wrestling and MMA techniques (some of which he helped invent) into a unique and aggressive style that leaves people baffled (and tapping!).

By mixing all of these styles, he has filtered out what is truly fundamental, and what really works. Everyone who rolls with him says he has one of the most tricky, modern, and fluid guards they have ever seen, and he is always in high coaching demand.

Like any good wreatler or catch wrestler, Neil would rather be on top, adding tons of pressure and twisting his opponents in pretzels, but a good guard is still a must!

So he has learned how to flow from the guard to some of his strongest wrestling positions, including the front headlock, the shin whizzer, and the over/unders. Combine that with some of the best BJJ-inspired action like the triangle choke, GM kimura, or arm triangle and you are getting some of the most nuanced and unique grappling instruction available in the world.

So What Is On This Series?

From a traditional BJJ guard, learn all the ways to transform into a catch-inspired snap guard player. By handfighting your way in and knowing how and when to attack, you can start to control and dictate the fight from your guard, without ever needing to take a risky attack or get your guard passed! Neil shows all the best tie ups he likes to use to attack, starting with the Russian tie, an overlooked wrestling position that he uses to take the back or flow into one of his signature GM kimura submissions.

Use a simple snap down and some butterfly hooks to really supercharge this guard, adding a front headlock to your arsenal with tons of attacks that Neil has perfected over the years. From the front headlock, take the back and secure choke, hunker in and attack submissions like The Schultz and The Butcher Shop, or drag them down to side control where you can use Neil’s signature crucifix. Become a front headlock assassin just like Neil with his measured and detailed instruction.

Introduce yourself to new positions that wrestlers have been honing for years, and learn how to make them work in BJJ. From the shin whizzer and the cement mixer and more, you can get new strong places to work from that have a variety of powerful attacks. This is a series that will really open you up to new forms of technique, don’t hesitate to grab it today!

Neil’s catch style includes some really wicked submissions that the usual BJJ ruleset won’t include. See a whole new side of grappling (and prepare for those times when rules don’t matter). With different neck cranks and twisting holds that most BJJ guys think of as mean, you can unleash this form of grappling and take off the rules that have been limiting your study.
