TIMBEEER: How Short Boxers Can Dominate & Defeat Tall Opponents by Steve Van De Walle
Learn from Steve Van De Walle, 1998 U.S. All-Army and Armed Forces Welterweight Champion, former member of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program, Team USA boxer, and trainer with 46+ years studying the Sweet Science of Boxing.
Stop getting punched in the face by your tall opponent’s long jab. Learn the true secret to shutting down the jab, orthodox or southpaw. Train your eyes to see it coming, break through the stiff arm, and punish your opponent every time he throws his jab.
Control the range with your footwork. Win from the outside, or get inside when you choose. Cut off the ring, get in and out without getting countered, and trap him on the ropes when he’s most vulnerable.
Break him down with vicious body shots. Use the short fighter’s secret weapon, the left hook to the body, along with slip-and-step-inside shots and angles that drain a tall opponent round after round until he falls apart.
Land clean, powerful head shots. Set up the overhand, the uppercut, and the Gazelle hook. Turn small openings into big damage, break down the high guard, and finish with combinations.
See it work in real fights. Watch short vs. tall sparring rounds and a full pro fight, then train with fight-ready bag drills, conditioning, and mental preparation.

Learn from a coach who has been in the ring and in the corner. Steve won numerous state, regional, and national championships and fought for Team USA. He faced future Undisputed Welterweight Champion Cory Spinks at the 1997 National PAL Championships and sparred him again during Spinks’s pro training camp in Colorado Springs. After a leg injury ended his career in his prime, Steve turned to coaching. He has since built beginners from Day 1 into state, regional, and national champions, Team USA members, and professional boxers.
What his coach says:
“In boxing there are Coaches, Trainers and Teachers and they each play a different role. There are a small group of trainers who have the abilities to be all three and he is one of them... Steve has a very high boxing IQ.” — Basheer Abdullah, 4x Olympic Boxing Coach and Steve’s coach in the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program
What his fighter says:
“He teaches you to box smart.” — “Smokin” Joe Perez, 3x National Champion, former Team USA member, and former professional boxer, trained by Steve from Day 1
If you’ve ever been told you’re too short to win, this course shows you how to make the big man fall. Timbeeer!
