What Will You Learn?
If you have trained boxing at all in your life, it is easy to spot people who don’t know how to fight based on their lack of basic technique. There are certain fundamentals that are overlooked at times, but are the cornerstone to boxing and can not be glossed over. In this series Jim brings it back to the basics, touching on every major aspect of the sport to ensure you get your training started off right and really start furthering your progression.
The jab is oftentimes the most thrown punch in a fight, making it one of the most important. Jim combines proper footwork with the utilization of the jab to help sharpen one of the most useful tools in your arsenal. He also details the proper use of different bags such as the slip bag and hook bag, not only showing their functionality but also providing a situational analysis on how the techniques used on these bags pan out in a real fight.
On top of proper technique, having the cardio and stamina to stay sharp in a fight is extremely important. Using a combination of weight training, cardio exercises such as jump rope and ball workouts, and an extremely descriptive walkthrough of TRX workouts, Jim helps to prepare your body to withstand anything in the ring. As you watch him cruise through these techniques, it is clear to see the knowledge and insight dedicating himself to this sport has given him.
