Gordon Is Out! Nicky Rod Is IN!

The BJJ Fanatics Submission Only Grand Prix is this Friday and we’re anticipating quite a show! Unfortunately, Gordon Ryan, has recently withdrawn his name from the bracket. Ryan was undoubtedly the favorite to win the Grand Prix, but in his absence, grappling’s newest force of nature, Nicky Rodriguez, will be taking his place!
Putting together a string of incredibly impressive victories over some of the biggest names in the sport, Rodriguez is fresh off an unbelievable performance at ADCC. After a mere 18 months of training, Rodriguez worked his way through the ADCC bracket like a seasoned vet, only to be stopped by a very talented Kaynan Duarte, earning himself ADCC silver in his first trip to the event. Rodriguez brought a level of excitement to the competition that made for some of the most memorable in the history of the competition.
With his explosive athleticism and monstrous game, Rodriguez is the perfect candidate to replace Ryan. He’ll bring another level of intensity and excitement to this already stacked 32-man bracket. If we can’t have Gordon, Nicky Rod is certainly one hell of a replacement!
With the perfect action pushing ruleset, The BJJ Fanatics Grand Prix is more than a perfect setting to unleash Rodriguez and watch him do his thing. The rounds will be 10 minutes long and there will be no points awarded during that time. The only way to win is by submission. Should the match go the full length without a submission being produced, an EBI overtime format will take over from there to determine the winner.
