In this video Bruno Malfacine explores a knee push sweep from butterfly guard. He starts the sequence in butterfly guard. However he modified the guard with one foot is flat on the mat.  He has a grip on his opponent’s belt on that side his foot is posted.   On the opposite side he has a grip on his opponent’s pants. Next he pulls his opponent to start a push pull sequence.  Certainly his opponent would be worried about the traditional sweep from butterfly guard and would seek to counter it by sitting back. Notice the importance Bruno places on head placement.  It is imperative for your head to be under your opponent’s head.  To finish the sweep Malfacine pulls his opponent’s leg between his legs while he sits up into combat stance. Well done Bruno. What an excellent sweep from butterfly guard. It is an excellent addition to anyone’s game.

This video is a wonderful example of Bruno’s ability to communicate technique to even novice grapplers.  Like all of Malfacine’s instructional videos, there is a lot of detail. I know that I often gain new insights every time I re-watch one of his videos. Bruno Malfacine’s instructional videos have a powerful impact on anyone who makes a careful study of them. Certainly, the Jiu Jitsu community is lucky to have him.
