In this video Bruno Malfacine explores some key details on how not to get smashed by a bigger opponent.  This video should be interesting to all grapplers because there always seems to be a bigger and stronger opponent.  Malfacine starts off in butterfly guard.  It is the goal of the top player to establish grips in order to pass. Note how Malfacine is careful to control the space. He backs up while maintaining grips on his opponent.  He continues this action until two possible scenarios happen. The first scenario is his opponent gives him an open elbow and he is able to arm drag.  If his opponent is careful with his hand placement he goes to the second scenario of creating space for the arm drag by pulling his opponent’s arm.  The key is controlling space. We want to be able to dictate where the battle happens. Well done Bruno! These small details will surely have a powerful impact on anyone’s game.
