Stretching the Truth
Admit it. You don’t stretch enough.
If you’re like me, when you talk about your stretching regimen, the only thing you’re really stretching is the truth.
We’re all the same. We want to get rolling as fast as possible, so we do a few cursory stretches and dive right in.
And after class? Nope.
Even older folks like me are guilty of not stretching enough. But it is important.
For us older grapplers, it helps prevent injury. And for you young fellers, it could help you maintain and build flexibility.

Not convinced? Let me put it another way: Gordon Ryan stretches, and you don’t.
Now, that’s probably not the only reason Ryan is operating on a whole different level from you and me, but it matters.
Ryan himself is convinced that it makes a difference. In fact, as he gained muscle mass, he attributes his continued flexibility to his dedication to a stretching regimen.
As an example, he cites his continued ability to do the Berimbolo, and Ryan is willing to match his skill with the Berimbolo against that of any lighter grappler.
If you are interested in Ryan’s stretching regimen, it’s included as part of his Getting Swole as a Grappler DVD series. So, whether you want to maintain flexibility into middle age or you’re looking to stay supple while adding muscle mass, stretching—both before and after workouts and training sessions—may be the key.
Want to know how Gordon Ryan went from 163lbs to a SWOLE 232 lbs and then back to 194 lbs... all in the matter of 18 months? All the while having the ability to train, compete and remain healthy? Check out his DVD "Getting Swole As A Grappler". Check it out here!
