Who is Keith Krikorian?

Keith Krikorian is a 10th Planet black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under the older Martinez brother, Richie the “Boogeyman”. Keith is a noted competitor on the international grappling scene who has been making waves since long before receiving his black belt from Martinez in 2020.

As a child, Keith first found his way to boxing at the age of 9, where he competed competitively for many years. This hard, tough mentality taken from boxing is likely responsible for his competitive success in the more relaxed sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

On his way from boxing to BJJ, Krikorian stopped at Muay Thai and kickboxing gyms, and competed as a freestyle wrestler while eyeing up a complete MMA skillset. Eventually, he found his way to submission grappling and eventually to the 10th Planet Freaks.

Since that time, Krikorian has continued his reign of terror on the mats, hitting top-level professionals with inside heel hook after inside heel hook. In fact, to find his losses you have to go to the upper echelons of the sport, where the young Krikorian has yet to beat Ruotolo or Orchard.

While 10th Planet has a reputation for modern, nogi jiu jitsu, its roots are as pure as they come. Outspoken nogi advocate, MMA enthusiast, and founder of the 10th Planet system, Eddie Bravo, is himself a black belt in Gi Jiu Jitsu under one of Carlos Gracie’s black belts, the World Champion Jean Jacques Machado.

To continue this line, Richie Martinez awarded Krikorian his black belt after seven, hard-fought years on the mats in 2020. The knowledge and accolades of his lineage are impressive, and Keith aims to be the next link in the chain of champions.
