Kasai Pro Super Series Results

As one of the top BJJ promotions in the sport today, The Kasai Pro Super Series held this past Saturday, February 2nd, in Dallas, Texas did not fail to provide some amazing jiu jitsu. We saw some rising stars show cased in the prelims. Up and comers Abdul-Kareem Al-Sewady and Cameron Adair both had impressive performances as well as Kecia Makenzie and  Diego Santana. On the main card we saw a crowd pleasing performance by Renato Canuto who would defeat Marcio Andre with an inside heel hook. Text Johnson also took a surprising win over Ricardo Abreu. The night was not without some controversy though in the match between Dante Leon and Matheus Lutes. In a momentum of confusion, Lutes thought the referee had stopped the match, causing an early submission by mistake. Both Lucas Valente and Andressa Cintra would take victories in the two gi matches on the main card.

The main event between Gordon Ryan and Joao Rocha lived up to its expectations in a highly exciting match. Both athletes exchanged take down attempts at the start of the match. Roch hit a nasty uchi mata early on against Ryan however they landed out of bounds. Following that, Ryan was quick to pull guard and we saw an impressive exchange from both athletes on the ground. During the overtime round (the winner now determined by points) Gordon Ryan pulled butterfly guard on Rocha and trapped his leg for a heel hook attempt. The submission attempt earned Ryan a point. Joao, now trailing behind, looked visibility tired but made three attempts to pass Ryan’s guard and tie the match. In the end though it was not enough and Ryan took the win with his single point earned for the submission attempt.
