Dean Lister Makes His Jocko Podcast Debut
Posted by Fanatics Authors on
Today for his 137th episode of the wildly popular Jocko Willink Podcast, author, former Navy Seal and BJJ black belt Jocko Willink played host to long time friend and jiu jitsu mentor Dean Lister. The two of them share tales of Dean's upbringing as a military kid in some of the most dangerous places on earth at the time and the early days of grappling and the competition scene in America in the late 1990's.
Dean is widely considered one of the best American grappling competitors in the history of the sport. A multiple time ADCC winner and former UFC fighter, his impact on the current state of grappling cannot be overstated. Without him and a casual comment he made to the one and only John Danaher, we would probably not have the Danaher Death Squad and the continued evolution of submission grappling. Dean Lister was a pioneer in the leg lock arena a full decade before they began to gain favor in submission only tournaments.
Check out this episode of Jocko Willink's podcast and enjoy the tales and the jiu jitsu philosophy these two have shared over the years.
