Kasai's Craig Jones vs. Rousimar Palhares Becomes Internet's Most Anticipated Match
The internet just let out a collective WTF!?
In just over a week, New York based grappling promotion Kasai Elite Grappling Championship hosts it's third event. In what was already slated to be an exciting super fight match between Australian leg lock ace Craig Jones and Brazilian joint destroyer Rousimar Palhares, the internet did a collective "Emeril" and kicked it up a notch when a photo appeared showing an absolutely massive Rousimar Palhares in a post-training photo.
Meme makers are working overtime to have fun with this dramatic change in Rousimar's physique. Having been about 5 years since he was fired from the UFC for failing to release submission holds and then summarily let go from the World Series of Fighting for the same thing, he has been trying to keep busy with MMA fights overseas. Having won 1 fight out of his last 5 and having been knocked out in his last match in March in Russia, he seems to have turned his focus to getting bigger than he already was, quickly.
With most estimates putting the mutant looking Palhares at 240 lbs, it's going to be quite the cut to get down to the agreed upon 185 lbs for the match with Craig Jones. It will most likely be one of the most exciting matches since Garry Tonon's epic battle with Palhares at Polaris a few years ago. Who do you have?
