More About Cameron Shayne’s Career

Cameron began his journey through studying martial arts and Zen meditation at the age of 12, as well as yoga Asana training at the age of 25. He has achieved his black belt in Japanese Karate-do and Korean Taekwondo, and currently holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the Gracie lineage. He has been intertwined in the yoga, martial arts, and Zen meditation disciplines for over 30 years.

In the 90’s and during the real explosion of yoga in the western world, Cameron established himself as one of the main voices and transmitters of contemporary yoga and martial arts. After years of practicing these disciplines and teaching teachers, he founded Budokon.

While working to achieve his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Cameron is training under professor’s Gui Arashiro, Xande Ribeiro, and Rafael Lovato Jr. He currently serves as the movement coach for the Bellator world champion Lovato Jr. fight team. He also works as a movement coach for many celebrity artists and entertainers such as Charlie Sheen, Slash, Dean Penn, Meg Ryan, Courtney Cox, Rene Russo, Jennifer Aniston, as well as Olympians Kerrie Walsh-Jennings and Sugar Ray Leonard.

Cameron is responsible for the creation of the Budokon Yoga style, the Budokon mobility style, the Budokon mixed movement arts black belt system, Budokon University, BDK academy, and for his many creative writings and podcasts influencing this movement style. His teaching style is one that is transparent and honest through the use of critical self analysis, and is a style that has established him as a major guiding force for modern yoga, martial arts, and the movement culture.

When relating these movement techniques into a martial art such as Jiu Jitsu, one of its primary purposes is to help practitioners be more in tune with their bodies and a deeper level. This type of movement allows for better transitions on both the attacking and defensive sides of the art.

In the instructional videos he has created, he goes through a series of movement techniques and shows exactly how to seamlessly connect to each of them. He dives into movements such as inverting, the half squat, and the gorilla walk, and details exactly how you can transfer these movements into your Jiu Jitsu practice. The key he aims to unlock is how to enhance your mobility specifically for Jiu Jitsu.
