Renato Migliaccio was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on May 4, 1978. His martial arts journey began at a very young age, with Judo becoming his first discipline at the age of 8. Fueling his competitive spirit from the outset, Renato delved into competitions and quickly amassed titles at the junior level.

In the city of Ribeirão Preto, Renato's path led him to explore Jiu-Jitsu for the first time. Under the guidance of renowned instructor Roberto Correa, he initially trained at Correa's academy. However, as Renato prepared to relocate to the bustling city of Sao Paulo, Correa recommended training at Ryan Gracie's gym. Following this advice, Renato embarked on a remarkable journey, progressing through the ranks from a white belt to ultimately attaining the coveted black belt.

In 2003, seeking fresh challenges and a desire to learn English, Renato left his native Brazil. During this period, he traversed numerous countries, imparting knowledge through seminars and engaging in competitive bouts, primarily across Europe and North America. It was during this time that Renato made his foray into MMA, participating in the King of the Cage event in New Mexico. Demonstrating his well rounded grappling game, he secured a graceful victory with a "Mata Leao" chokehold, concluding the fight in under a minute.

Renato's passion for combat sports and martial arts led him to explore various other disciplines, including boxing (with amateur bouts), kickboxing, where he excelled on the amateur circuit, Muay Thai, Kyokushin Karate, Aikido, Kali, Zurkhaneh, and Krav Maga. Notably, he obtained his Krav Maga instructor certification in Israel under the guidance of Mr. Itay Dannenberg.

After years of traveling the globe, Renato found his home in the United States. He shares his expertise by teaching self-defense at California State University - Long Beach and his own academy, Sampa BJJ. Additionally, he has established affiliate academies across the world, visiting them twice a year in Europe, America, and Canada. Renato co-owns BJJ Intensive Camp, a company dedicated to organizing top-quality jiu-jitsu training experiences.

Academically accomplished, Renato holds a bachelor's degree in sports science and a master's degree in sports management. Currently, he is pursuing an Executive MBA at Real Madrid University, further expanding his knowledge and skills. Renato Migliaccio's first major victory in BJJ came before the turn of the century, in 1999. Migliaccio was a purple belt at the time, still looking to prove his mettle on the international scene. He stomped through all the early rounds and found himself in the finals of the World Championships. Although he wasn’t able to come away with the victory, this second place finish still put him on the map.
