What this article covers:

Scott has been taking clients in strength and conditioning for nearly a decade, since 2015. He works with clients all over the fitness spectrum. Some of his clientele experience chronic pain, some are looking for gains in their sport, and many are members of the Olympic Judo team who Georgeaklis connected with through his relationship with Travis stevens.

Movement for Grappling by Scott Georgaklis with Travis Stevens is available now!

When he's not actively training people inside the gym, Scott is working on his own Fitness through unconventional means. He is an avid Outdoorsman who has climbed many of the highest peaks in the Andes Mountains, cross country skied hundreds of miles across Vermont, and even had the opportunity to study ecology on the Amazon River in Ecuador. All told, Scott Georgetaklis brings a unique perspective and a wide variety of interests to bear on his work in combat sports.

Above all else, Scott Georgaklis is focused on fitness. When he’s not managing his businesses in-person, consulting with clients, or training to improve his own skills, Scott can be found filming instructionals focused on general wellness.

He’s worked extensively with Fanatics to help us shore up our need for content that helps practitioners stay in the game for longer. He’s created several awesome products with us, including “Movement for Grappling w/ Travis Stevens”, in which he teams up with US Olympic Judoka Travis Stevens to film some tips on maintaining fluid movement. This volume contains exercises that work from day one until the last day, and from the most basic fundamentals class to the most advanced, demanding MMA workout.

Georgaklis has also produced some great solo content, including his “Hips, Shoulder, Back” and “Fine Tuning Your Workout.” Both of these are focused on careful, systematized approaches to building and maintaining functional fitness. The former focuses on the all important posterior chain of your hips, shoulder, and back in generating power and balance both on and off the mat. The latter, Fine Tuning, offers more generalized tips to help with total body fitness. If you’re looking to expand beyond just the problem areas in the posterior chain, then this is a great place to start.

Finally, Scott Georgaklis has filmed the perfect instructional for the aging practitioner, aptly titled “How to Train into Your 50s”. This video product was designed to contain helpful tips on diet, everyday exercise, and joint health, which work together to produce longevity in athletes. Whether your looking to take your first steps into the fitness world, or perhaps looking to dial it back and slide into the back nine with a little more grace, this world renowned strength and conditioning coach has you covered.

Scott Georgaklis Record

As someone who never competed professionally, Scott can boldly claim to be undefeated, with a record of no wins and no losses! Scott Georgaklis is a trainer and conditioning coach, not a competitor.

Scott Georgaklis Injuries

Scott Georgaklis is heavily focused on injury prevention as a first step. He’s also filmed content explicitly for aging practitioners to learn from. He points out that the biggest action an individual can take after 50 is to make small, daily habits that move them in the right direction. He emphasizes the saying, “use it or lose it” as an important axiom that only becomes more significant as we age.

As time wears on, Georgaklis says, we risk losing our health, experiencing chronic pain and stiffness, and a long, uphill battle back to physical fitness. To get ahead of this, Georgaklis argues that all practitioners, and especially those over 50, develop a daily exercise routine to be followed a full seven days of the week.

The exercises can safely ignore general mobility, Scott points out, because your BJJ training does that for you. Instead, it should be focused on stretching targeted areas daily, creating meal routines that support training, and remembering to stay consistent.

Is Scott Georgaklis Retired?

Scott Georgaklis is far from retired. He currently works with both Fuji and with Motion as Medicine to spread his fitness knowledge and modalities to others. He’s also slowed himself down long enough to record four awesome products for BJJ Fanatics: “Movement for Grappling w/ Travis Stevens”, “Hips, Shoulder, Back”,  “Fine Tuning Your Workout.”, and “How to Train into Your 50s”. Be sure to take some tips from the man who is working behind the scenes with the US Olympic Judo team to improve overall fitness and wellbeing!
