Who is Scott Georgaklis?

Scott Georgaklis has dedicated his life to health and wellness. He is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Travis Stevens, of US Olympic judo fame. This FUJI-sponsored strength and conditioning coach is also a massage therapist at a company called Movement as Medicine. Georgaklis has worked with some of the top coaches and athletes in strength and conditioning to improve his techniques and brings a background in martial arts, kettlebell training, wilderness survival, nutrition, natural movement, and athletics.

Scott has been taking clients in strength and conditioning for nearly a decade, since 2015. He works with clients all over the fitness spectrum. Some of his clientele experience chronic pain, some are looking for gains in their sport, and many are members of the Olympic Judo team who Georgeaklis connected with through his relationship with Travis stevens.

When he's not actively training people inside the gym, Scott is working on his own Fitness through unconventional means. He is an avid Outdoorsman who has climbed many of the highest peaks in the Andes Mountains, cross country skied hundreds of miles across Vermont, and even had the opportunity to study ecology on the Amazon River in Ecuador. All told, Scott Georgetaklis brings a unique perspective and a wide variety of interests to bear on his work in combat sports.

Above all else, Scott Georgaklis is focused on fitness. When he’s not managing his businesses in-person, consulting with clients, or training to improve his own skills, Scott can be found filming instructionals focused on general wellness.

Scott never spent any time on the competition scene. In fact, he currently holds the rank of purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Travis stevens. His Focus has been, and likely will remain on, strength and conditioning as it applies to both Combat Sports and to life in general.

Scott Georgaklis Record

As someone who never competed professionally, Scott can boldly claim to be undefeated, with a record of no wins and no losses! Scott Georgaklis is a trainer and conditioning coach, not a competitor.

Scott Georgaklis is heavily focused on injury prevention as a first step. He’s also filmed content explicitly for aging practitioners to learn from. He points out that the biggest action an individual can take after 50 is to make small, daily habits that move them in the right direction. He emphasizes the saying, “use it or lose it” as an important axiom that only becomes more significant as we age.

As time wears on, Georgaklis says, we risk losing our health, experiencing chronic pain and stiffness, and a long, uphill battle back to physical fitness. To get ahead of this, Georgaklis argues that all practitioners, and especially those over 50, develop a daily exercise routine to be followed a full seven days of the week. 

The exercises can safely ignore general mobility, Scott points out, because your BJJ training does that for you. Instead, it should be focused on stretching targeted areas daily, creating meal routines that support training, and remembering to stay consistent.

Scott Georgaklis is far from retired. He currently works with both Fuji and with Motion as Medicine to spread his fitness knowledge and modalities to others.
