Before competing in MMA, Antonio Carlos Junior competed in the global level of several Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments. This includes the 2010 World Championships, the 2012 Pan American Championships and the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship in 2012.
Antonio Carlos Junior got his big break when he appeared on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 as a part of that season's heavyweight cast. Antonio Carlos Junior Guilherme Viana via TKO to become an official cast member and move into that season's Ultimate Fighter House.
