Blaize Cabell is a former collegiate wrestler who competed for Northern Iowa. He was a standout in college as he secured three NCAA qualifications. Blaize was the only Panther to have an undefeated dual record in his Junior year, securing 16 wins. He also went undefeated in the Mid American Conference Duals for two consecutive years posting 8 - 0 in both seasons. Blaize won the 2016 Mid American Conference title and the Last Chance Qualifier to earn a spot at the Olympic Trials. Blaize also won tournaments like; the Finn Grinaker Cobber Open and the Loras Open. In 2011 Blaize attended high school at Independence in Iowa. Where he wrestled predominantly as a 189 pound athlete. Blaize secured a third place finish at the Iowa State Championship in 2011 and sixth in 2009. Blaize was also a running back at Iowa State high and an outfielder for the Baseball team. After graduating from high school Blaize moved on to Northern Iowa University, where he took a redshirt year. Blaize posted a 17 - 11 record at open tournaments as he won the Loras Open at 197 pounds. Blaize competed at the Jim Fox Open and the William Penn Open placing fourth at both events. He also placed fifth at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open and the UNI Open.

As a Freshman Blaize had a tough season, losing more matches than he won posting an overall record of 10 - 12. He placed second at the William Penn Open and fifth at the HNC Open. In 2013 as a Sophomore Blaize began to pick up the intensity recording 22 victories for the year, including a 6 - 6 dual record. Blaize secured an automatic bid to his first NCAA Championship after finishing third at the prestigious MAC Open. In Blaize's Junior year he dominated the program as he recorded a formidable 28 - 7 record, including an undefeated dual record of 16 - 0. Blaize won 15 matches in a row before losing the final at the MAC Open Championships. Blaize received his second automatic bid to the NCAA Championships but failed to place. Blaize secured third place at the UCM Open defeating top ranked opponents like Devin Mellon. Blaize earned a contingent of awards for his outstanding season including the Most Valuable Wrestler, the Most Improved and the McCready/Steffensmeier Award. Blaize also took second spot for the most dual points accumulated, scoring 57.

In 2016 Blaize continued his dominance as a Senior, posting another great season record of 21 - 6, including a 12 - 2 dual record. Blaize compiled his second consecutive season of 8 - 0 win loss record at the MAC duals. Blaize became the only Panther to win the MAC Championships securing his third consecutive NCAA bid. Blaize became extremely frustrated as he was unable to compete at the NCAA titles due to an illness. Blaize won the Last Chance Qualifier, earning himself a place at the 2016 Olympic Trials held in Iowa City. Blaize had an outstanding collegiate career with many high profile wins. After graduating from college Blaize continued training the Panthers Wrestling club and at the Valley Regional Training Centre, where he went on and placed fourth at the Senior Men's Freestyle World Team Trials.

Blaize Cabell grew up in Henderson, Kentucky in the United States of America. He was born on the 14th of May in 1993, he is currently 28 years of age.

Blaize began his coaching career in 2019 as he became a volunteer assistant at Campbell University. He was a huge influence on the 197 pound and heavyweight athletes. Blaize guided heavyweight Jere Heino to his third NCAA tournament appearance after his second place finish at the 2020 SoCon Championship. Blaize also helped 197 pound Chris Kober to a third place at the conference tournament. Blaize's team ended the 2020 season by compiling an 11 - 2 record that featured a nine match win streak. Campbell University posted an undefeated mark of 7-0 in conference matchups, and secured its second consecutive SoCon Tournament Championship. In the regular season Campbell claimed a 35-13 win at Davidson, winning its second straight league dual title.

After leaving Campbell, Blaize became an Assistant coach at the Navy Wrestling Academy. Blaize has worked extensively with wrestlers at 184, 197 and 285 pounds. The Navy lost its season opener to Pitt 22 - 14, but then won the last five duals of 2021, including an impressive 41 - 3 victory at Clarion. The Midshipmen also posted a 21 - 9 victory over the former EIWA Champions, Lehigh. The Navy won consecutive shutouts against Cleveland State 37 - 0 and George Mason 44 - 0, the first back to back dominations since the 1963 season. The Navy completed the dual season by scoring a 20 - 13 victory over the Army at the annual Star Match in West Point. The Navy also placed second at the EIWA Championship, the team's finest result since 2013.

Nine wrestlers represented the Navy at the NCAA Championships, only the third time in their program's history. Logan Treaster, Jacob Allen, Cody Trybus, Andrew Cerniglia, Tanner Skidgel, David Key and Jacob Koser earned automatic bids due to their results at the EIWA Championship. While Casey Cobb and John Birchmeier received at large bids. Five of the nine wrestlers won at least one match, as the Navy went on to place 37th out of 63 teams. Throughout the Navy's outstanding results, Blaize Cabell has been a massive upside to his teams success.

Like most high intensity athletes, there are always muscle strains, knocks and bruises. As Blaize's college career was coming to an end he managed to win the Mid American Conference Championship. The win gave him an automatic bid into the NCAA Championships. Blaize was hoping to cap off his career with an All American selection, unfortunately life has a different plan. Blaize fell quite ill in the lead up to the event, forcing him to pull out of his last attempt at an NCAA crown.
