She hadn’t found her ceiling yet and by 2009 Katelyn was already testing herself at her first Judo World Championships. The Olympics were just the beginning for Katelyn who, in the years following, medaled in all sorts of national and international competitions while keeping her eye on the world championships. Highlights include bronze medals at the 2017 IJF Grand Prix and, more recently, bronze at the 2017 and 2021 Pan American Championships.

Katelyn Jarrell's Best Fight of All Time

Jarrell is a long time competitor with many stories to tell about her time spent on the mat. It’s often hard to identify one moment that seems brighter than the rest in a career full of standout moments. Still, it feels safe to identify her 2010 Youth Olympic Gold medal as one of her proudest achievements.

Who Did Katelyn Jarrell Lose To?

The Judo circuit is like any other: the top competitors are likely to meet over and over again in the highest level events. Katelyn Jarrell’s repeat dance partner has been fellow american judoka Angelica Delgado. The two have crossed paths at major tournaments at least twice, and Delgado has been able to scrape out the win on those occasions.

Katelyn Jarrell Record

Katelyn Jarrell’s overall grappling record has never been compiled, but she has an amazing competition pedigree that speaks for itself.

Katelyn Jarrell Injuries

Although grappling injuries are quite normal, Katelyn Jarrell has not been public with any major problems that have cost her prolonged time on the mat. This is exceptional given that her sport of choice is judo, one of the most physically demanding and potentially damaging of the grappling arts. A lifestyle of dedication and training, in addition to good old fashioned toughness, have certainly contributed to her streak of good health.

Is Katelyn Jarrell Retired?

At only 28 years old, Katelyn Jarrell is far from retiring. She still has many major Judo competitions to attend in 2022 and beyond. Given that she achieved Youth Olympic gold at an early age, we can only assume that Jarrell is continuing to train for the biggest stage that Judo has. She works alongside her father as a coach while she trains.

In addition to her work as a coach and competitor, Katelyn Jarrell also works hard to translate her considerable grappling skill into video format so that others can benefit from the time she’s spent learning Judo.

Judo can be an intimidating style to face off against, and these offerings are geared towards understanding how to minimize the possibility of getting tossed on your head.
