Who is Lucas Valle?
Valle was born and raised in the capital city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the 1990s and one can guess, based purely on his location, that BJJ was a way of life from an early age. Lucas lives a private life, and not much is out there on his childhood years.
Mastering The Half Guard by Lucas Valle
By 2011, Valle was a blue belt and already competing on the national circuit. Soon after, in 2012, he was already getting his hand raised as a purple belt. Two years later in 2014, now a black belt, Valle would get his introduction to the highest levels of competition.
His first opponent? None other than the legendary competitor Leandro Lo. There’s nothing that says, “Welcome to black belt competition!” quite like a matchup with one of the GOATs. Not to be deterred, Valle stayed with the game for years before earning his 2018 win over Raphael Carneiro on Seth Daniels’ Fight 2 Win promotion.
The Coyote Half Guard No Gi by Lucas Leite
Since his spark ignited in 2018, Valle has won eleven more bouts under the IBJJF banner. He continues to make waves at tournaments both regionally and nationally.
His academy, Valle Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, also offers a rarely seen combination of martial arts under its banner: IBJJF Jiu Jitsu and ISKA Karate, known for its quick, in-and-out style of point fighting. These two sports are fundamentally different, and it's refreshing to see an academy like Valle’s embrace a wider view of martial arts.
How Old is Lucas Valle?
Lucas Valle was born in the mid 1990s and is somewhere around thirty. His precise age and birthday aren’t publicly available.
Lucas Valle Family
Not much has been published about Lucas Valle’s family. He maintains a private life, preferring to focus on the sport when interviewed. He regularly posts beautiful family photos of himself, his wife Mariana, and their daughter.

As a grappler, Lucas Valle has had far too many bouts to list them all here. To get an idea of his prowess on the mat, we can take a look at some of his proudest accomplishments in the sport:

Lucas Valle's Best Fight of All Time
For a seasoned grappler like Lucas, it’s hard to nail down one moment that stands above everything else. Still, we here at BJJ Fanatics enjoy firsts: Valle’s first pro win came on Seth Daniels’ out-of-the-box promotion, Fight 2 Win 80 against Raphael Carneiro in 2018. That moment set Valle down a path that would lead to several more victories in the following years, and represent a true growth in Lucas’ skills from his time as an early black belt.
Who Did Lucas Valle Lose To?
All grapplers face their fair share of ups and downs, and Lucas Valle is no different in that regard. He’s spent so much time on the mats in competition, that occasional losses are inevitable.
One recent loss came in the first round of the 2021 IBJJF American Nationals to the eventual champion of the division, Mathias Luna of Checkmat. The two were matched up in the early part of the tournament at 181 pounds for a middleweight bout. Although Valle brought a tough fight to his opponent, Luna was able to win 8x0 on points.
