What this article covers:

Kieran Kichuk was born on November 19, 1995, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. However, his family moved to San Diego, California, when he was just an infant and stayed there for five years before relocating back to Canada and settling in Markham, Ontario. Kieran was raised in a family that placed a great emphasis on physical activity, with his father, a former national-level track athlete and NCAA Division 1 runner, serving as a major inspiration for the family's athletic pursuits.

Kieran's interest in sports led him to compete in track and field, where he specialized in the 1500 meters and cross country, achieving regional and provincial level success. However, in 2009, after being inspired by George St. Pierre's exploits in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Kieran began training in martial arts. Initially, he took up Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but soon decided to focus solely on grappling. This decision led him to quit the high school track team and join the wrestling program, where he also excelled at the provincial level.

Kieran's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey began under the tutelage of Steve Lin, a black belt who played a pivotal role in his development, taking him from white to brown belt. In 2010, Steve Lin's gym became affiliated with Team Lloyd Irvin, and it was through this association that Kieran got to connect with Lloyd Irvin and his competitive team, the Medal Chasers, over the course of a few years.

In late 2017, Kieran began training with Fernando Zulick, also known as Gringo. Gringo had a significant impact on Kieran's growth as a grappler, and on December 20, 2020, he awarded Kieran with the prestigious black belt.

Kieran Kichuk has become known for his submission-oriented Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu style, which has earned him recognition in notable tournaments such as the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Pan American No-Gi Championships.
