Raised in a family with a strong wrestling background dating as far as his grandfather (Bob Dake), who initiated Lansing school district’s wrestling program back in his heyday, it did not come as a surprise that Kyle himself would give his first steps on a wrestling mat at a very young age. 4 years old to be exact.

Kyle’s development as a wrestler was closely followed by his father and mentor, Doug Dake, up until the young New York athlete joined Cornell University, a time when that role was taken over by coach Rob Koll.
