More About Milan Costich’s Career

After watching his first Bruce Lee movie and deciding he wanted martial arts to be a part of his life, Milan began Taekwondo at 4 years old and received his black belt by the age of 8. This also led to a stint in training karate and then to competing in martial arts by the age of 10.

Around that age, Olympic gold medalist Arlene Limas, who had been the first female to win a gold medal at the 24th Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea, became his coach. At this time he had to learn a different style of martial arts which was the Olympic style. With this training he went on to become a national champion twice, as well as winning the silver medal at the Junior Olympics.

After these accolades he began training in sport karate. At the age of 16 he suffered an injury that left him unable to kick, which ultimately led to his career in boxing. As he started in his boxing endeavor, he was instantly hooked.

In his earlier days he also loved training martial arts, but could never really see himself as a coach. He went to college and began working as a management consultant full-time as well as a filmmaker part time in Washington, DC. After years of this type of work, by the time he turned 28 he began to feel as if he needed a change in his life.

He packed up and headed west and landed a job in the Endeavor mailroom. Through the next three years of his work here in entertainment, he felt he had picked up enough experience where he could finally see himself in a role as a coach. He took all of the savings he had and started his boxing gym, Prevail Boxing.

Since the opening of his gym, he has had more than 20,000 first time boxers walk through the doors, and has coached some seriously talented athletes. His days of competition have slowed down so he can accommodate those at his academy.
