Morgan Charrier is a French Mixed Martial Artist who is a member of Team Chapa Quente. He has a background in French boxing, as well as both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and it’s sister sport Luta Livre Esportiva. Who is Morgan Charriere?

Morgan Charrier is a French Mixed Martial Artist who is a member of Team Chapa Quente. Morgan was born in Poissy, Yvelines, France, where he was exposed to martial arts from a young age. At only eight years old, he began to practice Judo as his first foray into the arena of combat sports. After several years of Judo, he transitioned to MMA as a young man in 2012.

Shortly after changing sports, at the age of 17, he became an amateur regional MMA champion in France and began working his way towards larger promotions as a budding fighter. By December of 2014, Charriere was ready to turn pro. He began with a decisive victory and followed up his debut performance with another knockout, for back to back finishes at the start of his career. Shortly after, however, he suffered a series of defeats that left him recalculating. In this rebuilding phase, he joined up with his current team, Chapa Quente.

Around 2016, Charriere was on a streak of seven professional victories against regionally ranked opponents and won his first professional belt at 70kg on a French promotion. The following year, in 2017, Morgan was a finalist in a 66kg tournament and won the title of champion in his last bout of the day.

In December 2014, he turned professional, after a very promising debut, two fights won by knockout, he chained a series of four defeats, that's when he joined the Chapa Quente team. He turned around his patterns quickly and In 2016, he chained a series of seven rank victories thus winning his first belt during the Luxury 70 kg tournament and the Contenders 66 kg belt.

By the end of 2017, Charriere could boast both a 9-2 record and two separate belts since joining Team Chapa Quente only three years before. This winning streak gained the recognition of some major gyms, and he was eventually signed with Bulgarian Top Team.

The most recent shift in his career prospects came in 2019. He had won fights on both the WWFC and the EBD promotions and held the title of OFC champion. At this point, Charriere was signed by Cage Warriors. Quickly, he became the featherweight champion by defeating Perry Goodwin via KO in London in December of 2020.

He fought once to defend the belt in 2021, but came up short against Jordan Vucenic via a very closely-contested split decision. No doubt he will be back to challenge for the Cage Warriors title again in 2022 and beyond.

For a fighter like Morgan Charriere, it’s always hard to select one moment that’s better than all the rest. Here, however, the leading candidate is quite clear. After a long road to the professional scene under the Cage Warriors Promotion, Morgan Charriere found himself in a position to earn a major title soon after joining.

In 2020, he found himself facing off against then-champion Perry Goodwin, who had made quite a name for himself inside the octagon on the Cage Warriors promotion. Charriere rose to the occasion, proving to himself and anyone watching that he was more than ready for the big time. 

Although he didn’t defend this title successfully, there can be no doubt that winning it represents one of the biggest moments for Morgan’s already-stellar career.

Who Did Morgan Charriere Lose To?

Along with the amazing highlights come the darker moments that drive a true competitor to even greater success. Morgan Charriere’s toughest loss was likely in his first title defense of the Cage Warriors title he’d earned through his 2020 defeat of Perry Goodwin. 

The following spring, in March of 2021, Morgan Charriere was slated to defend the Cage Warriors featherweight title against Jordan Vucenic. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to pull this victory out, and lost the match via split decision to the English fighter.

Is Morgan Charriere Retired?

Morgan Charriere is not retired from professional Mixed Martial Arts. He continues to actively train to improve his skills in pursuit of bigger and better stages from which to display his considerable skills. He’s fought on Cage Warriors twice since losing the title in 2021, and is now looking to go on another impressive streak, like th 9-2 one that brought him to the professional level in the first place.
