Who Is Cicero Costha?
Cicero Costha is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt and instructor who is responsible for coaching some of the biggest stars in the sport, including Thalison Soares, Leandro Lo, the Miyao Brothers, and so many more. In his days as a competitor he was one of the top featherweights of his generation, and was a student of Mr. Marco Barbosa.
Cicero Costha was born in the district of Ipiranga of Sao Paulo, Brazil and was raised in a household where he began working at a young age. His training began with Rocian Gracie who coached Cicero through brown belt. The time when he was competing as a brown belt is when he started to gain some notoriety in the sport, which caused him to leave Gracie’s academy to find a more competition oriented school. This led him to Marco Barbosa’s academy, and he received his black belt from Barbosinha.
While leading a successful BJJ career, Cicero also tested himself as an MMA fighter. He fought in open weight cage fights even though he was a featherweight, and fought some big names such as former UFC heavyweight challenger Gabriel Gonzaga.
Cicero always liked giving back to his community, which prompted him to open a social project where he started teaching Jiu Jitsu aimed to serve young athletes from impoverished backgrounds and commit to giving them a sense of citizenship through sports. The organization is called Projecto Social Lutando Pelo Bem, which stands for Fighting for Good Social Project. In addition to his social project, Cicero also founded a team of some of the best competitors in the world, called Cicero Costha Jiu Jitsu.
