Gershon Ben Keren is a highly educated and trained professional in martial arts. He is a 5th degree Black belt in Krav Maga and a 2nd degree Black belt in Judo. Gershon has also trained extensively in Karate and traditional Ju-Jitsu. Gershon runs the Krav Maga Yashir training centre in Boston, which is a 16,000 square foot training facility where he teaches many civilians, military, law enforcement and security professionals in the arts of self defense and tactical martial arts.

Since 1990 Gershon has been involved in the security industry and has worked as a security guard at various nightclubs. Gershon has worked in a variety of other security roles including; close protection services, surveillance and security analytics. Through Gershon’s experiences he has been able to teach many of his students how to correctly identify problems relating to aggressive or violent situations and respond with an appropriate solution. Gershon has added many of his martial arts together in unison to create a collaboration of tactical self defense or self protection principles.

In 1992 Gershon visited Israel, where he was first exposed to Krav Maga and its self defense and tactical capabilities. Gershon then began practising in Krav Maga and over the next two decades he mastered the art. Gershon would utilise his skills in teaching Krav Maga and as he travelled the world he taught civilians and service personnel in the United States, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Upon returning to the UK Gershon would open a Krav Maga Academy in North London, where he taught defense tactics to the London Metropolitan Police Force and Her Majesty’s Prison Service. In 2011 Gershon was inducted into the Museum of Israeli Martial Arts, in Herzliya in Israel, by the famed Dr Dennis Hanover.

Gershon has put a lot of study into his martial arts, as he often talks about the psychology of a martial artist. Gershon has achieved a Masters Degree in Psychology, and to further his extensive knowledge of martial arts he is currently studying hard to secure another Master’s Degree in Criminology. Gershon’s quest to secure a complete understanding of martial arts has him studying to understand the mind of an aggressor. Gershon is not only relying upon his own experience, but he is utilising research from great minds worldwide to help break down the correct solutions when dealing with an aggressive attacker.

Gershon has written three best selling books on Krav Maga; The first is titled “Krav Maga - Extreme Survival” which focuses on extreme situations of violence, like active shootings, killer incidents, carjackings and home invasions. There are also detailed principles on how to identify predatory individuals and how to predict and engage perpetrators before, and in the acts of violence. The second book is titled “Krav Maga - Tactical Survival'' which is heavily focused on incidents of social violence, such as confrontations in public places. It also gives insight into potentially aggressive arguments and how to identify and correctly intercept violence before it erupts. This book deals with armed and unarmed assailants and shows methodology in how to de-escalate any potential threat of violence. His third book is titled “Krav Maga - Real World solutions which looks at a variety of different assaults, including; muggings and abductions and how to neutralize any potential danger.

After a long and in depth look into martial arts, Gershon spends his time teaching many individuals including; Military, Law Enforcement, Security Professionals and civilians his principles of martial arts. His training facility which he started in 2008 the “Krav Maga Yashir Training Centre” in Boston comes highly regarded as one of the premier places to learn real life survival and tactical self protection techniques.

After returning from Israel, Gershon completed the IKMF Instructors course and holds the rank of 5th Degree in Krav Maga. Gershon also holds a second dan Black belt in Judo. At first Gershon thought Krav Maga had sloppy form as he was used to the structural and formal foundation of Judo.
