Who Is Hayden Zillmer?

Hayden Zillmer is a highly successful wrestler who has competed in Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling disciplines. Hayden is a former three time Minnesota State champion for Crosby-Ironton high school. As a college wrestler he has achieved many wins and honours including; NCAA West Regional Champion, NCAA All American, NCAA Championship qualifier, two time All American Academic and a two time Western Wrestling Conference First Team.

Hayden Zillmer attended Crosby-Ironton High School where he became one of only 8 athletes ever to achieve the Cadet National triple crown in 2007. Hayden competed in Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling winning Cadet State Championships in all three disciplines. Hayden had an outstanding high school career amounting a massive 163-10 overall record, which is a Crosby-Ironton all time win record.

Hayden Zillmer attended college at North Dakota State University (NDSU) in his first two seasons as a freshman he posted records of 21 - 5 and 11 - 9 overall. Hayden won multiple titles including; Finn Grinaker Cobber Open (4-0) Dragon Open (4-0) Ridgewater Open (3-0) and Runner Up at the Grandview Open (4-1) Hayden Zillmer went on a 16 match win streak and defeated the formidable Georgi Ivanov of Boise State (8-7 in double overtime)

In Hayden’s Sophomore year he had a phenomenal season, compiling a record of 27-8 overall with a dual record of 13-3. Hayden would become NCAA West Regional Champion at 174 lbs, and he qualified for the NCAA Championships. Hayden was named First Team All Western Wrestling Conference performer and WWC Coaches’ Honour Roll. Hayden recorded a 6-1 result finishing third at the Midland Championships, he also won 3 out of 4 matches to secure the Silver medal at the Bison Open.

Hayden’s Junior year was just as impressive as his previous seasons, he finished his year with outstanding records of 36-7 overall with an impressive undefeated dual record of 13-0. Hayden also had an extremely successful run against ranked opponents with a record of 14-4. Hayden placed 6th at the NCAA Championships earning All American honours, he also won the NCAA West Regional Championship at 184 lbs. Hayden was named in the NWCA All Academic team and compiled Western Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the week three times. Hayden had some really close results at numerous tournaments including a first place at the Bison Open with an undefeated 4-0 showing. 

Hayden began his Senior year with tournament wins at the Warren Williamson Daktronics Open and the Bison Open. Hayden qualified for the NCAA Championships for the third straight season, he also secured runner up results at the Big 12 and the NCAA West regional tournaments with 6-1 results in both events. Hayden finished his season with a 32-6 overall record and another unbeaten dual record of 10-0, finishing his career with 26 straight dual wins.

How Old Is Hayden Zillmer?

Hayden Zillmer grew up in Northern Minnesota and was born on the 16th of July in 1992, he is currently 29 years of age.

Hayden Zillmer’s Family!

Hayden Zillmer grew up in a small town in Northern Minnesota with his parents Nick and Mary and his older sister Megan. As a family they grew up hunting, fishing and doing many other outdoor activities. Hayden’s father Nick was a collegiate Basketball player, so competitive sports ran through his veins. Hayden was introduced to wrestling at a young age, but trying to find training partners was hard coming from a small town. His parents sacrificed a lot for Hayden as they drove him into the city 2 to 3 times per week so he could train with higher level opponents. Most nights Hayden would not be back home until 10 or 1030 pm, so getting up for school was difficult. Hayden spoke about how hard it was, but also how he admired his parents for the help they gave him. Hayden won his first tournament at 89 lbs, as he was a small kid growing up and as he aged he got bigger and lankier. Hayden was then recruited to NDSU to wrestle at 141 lbs but quickly grew and was forced to compete at heavier weight classes.

Hayden Zillmer has had an incredible career all throughout high school and college. He has impressed many wrestling enthusiasts with his calm but tactical wrestling prowess. Hayden has also competed on the US National team and is constantly training to try and secure Olympic qualifications. Throughout his dominating career Hayden has increased his net worth to up over a couple hundred thousand dollars. Hayden has every intention of climbing up his financial ladder and securing more remuneration for his athletic abilities.

Hayden Zillmer has had some exceptional fights on the wrestling mats all throughout his schooling years. He has been a formidable opponent to many Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestlers. Some of his best fights have come during his college years, when he won the NCAA West Regional Championship at 174 lbs in his Sophomore year. The following year as a Junior he won the NCAA West Regional championship again this time as a 184 pounder. Hayden also beat #20 Georgi Ivanov of Boise State 8 points to 7 in a double overtime. Hayden’s best fight would come in the 2014-2015 season as a Junior when he competed at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas International. Hayden placed third after recording a 5-1 win loss record, including a 8-3 decision win over the number #1 ranked wrestler Gabe Dean of Cornell.

Hayden Zillmer did not lose many fights during college, due to his exceptional skills and athleticism on the mats. Some of his losses came against some high quality opponents like; Tanner Weatherman, Logan Storley, Blake Stauffer, Sammy Brooks, Kenny Courts, Vic Avery, Lorenzo Thomas, Mike Dessino, Bryce Hammond, Brock Gutches and Cody Caldwell.

Hayden Zillmer finished his college career with an outstanding overall record of 106 wins with only 30 losses, his .779 win percentage was extremely high. Hayden also finished off his career with 26 straight dual wins and securing an overall dual record of 41 wins with 7 losses. Hayden has also set a Crosby Ironton highschool all time win record of 163 wins with only 10 losses, including a 43-1 record as a Senior. He also is one of only 8 wrestlers to win Cadet State Championships in Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling disciplines.

Hayden has participated in US World and Olympic Team Trials where he has had some considerably close finishes.
