Who Did Corey Guitard Lose To?

In 2018, Corey Guitard experienced a difficult loss in the ADCC trials to fellow Jiu Jitsu star Adam Bradley. The match was a highly anticipated showdown between two elite competitors, with both Guitard and Bradley considered to be top contenders in the tournament.

The match began with both competitors exchanging grip attempts and feeling each other out. Guitard appeared to have an early advantage, successfully pulling guard and attempting to sweep Bradley. However, Bradley was able to effectively defend against Guitard's attacks and eventually secured a takedown, scoring two points and taking the lead. He held on to secure the victory as time expired with Bradley ahead on points.

The loss was a difficult one for Guitard, who had high hopes for the tournament and had put in countless hours of training in preparation. Is Corey Guitard Retired?

Corey isn’t retired; he’s dominating his division at Masters I. He’s also still actively competing on promotions like Fight 2 Win Pro and Finishers Only, in addition to competing on both the regional and the professional circuit. He’s already claimed gold in the IBJJF Pan American Games and he’s looking to continue adding to his trophy case whenever he gets the chance.

While Guitard has achieved great success as a jiu-jitsu competitor, his true passion lies in instruction. With a background in teaching at the university level, he has honed his skills and transferred them to the mat, where he uses a world-class methodology to teach cutting-edge techniques to his students.

Guitard recently teamed up with BJJ Fanatics to create “Front Headlock Submission Mastery”, which helps others get a grip on this hard to handle position. The front headlock is a common position in jiu-jitsu that can be used to control an opponent and set up submissions. However, many practitioners struggle with effectively executing submissions from this position. That's where Guitard's instructional series comes in! It’s designed to help practitioners of all levels develop a strong foundation in this position and learn how to capitalize on submission opportunities.

Throughout the series, Guitard provides detailed explanations of each technique, breaking down the movements and mechanics in a way that is easy to understand. He also shares insights and tips from his experience as a competitor and instructor, providing viewers with valuable perspectives on how to apply these techniques in a live setting.
