What this article covers:

Born and raised in the United States, Kneib has always been interested in physical activities, from gymnastics to wrestling. She began training in BJJ when she was 17 years old, and has since dedicated herself to the sport.

As a child, Kneib skipped 6th and 7th grade and graduated high school at 15 years old. She was always younger and smaller than her peers, but now she knows how to use her size to her advantage. When she started practicing BJJ, she had never seriously played any sports and was awkward and uncoordinated, but she enjoyed the challenge and stuck with it.

Tiny Woman's Guide To The Guard by Ann Kneib

Ann Kneib

Kneib’s early days in BJJ were marked by a strong work ethic and a commitment to learning. She trained regularly, often several hours a day, and worked hard to develop her technique and skills. She quickly began competing, and her talent and dedication soon became apparent to her coaches and fellow competitors.

Over the years, Kneib has won numerous titles and accolades in BJJ, including several regional championships and prestigious world championships. Her most notable victory came in 2022, when she won the black belt world championship, one of the most important and watched events in the sport. Kneib’s victory was the culmination of years of hard work and dedication, and marked her as one of the top competitors in the world.

One of the things that sets Kneib apart as a BJJ practitioner is her versatility and adaptability. She is skilled in both gi and no-gi grappling, and has competed successfully in both styles. Her technique is characterized by a focus on leverage, pressure, and control, and she is known for her ability to outmaneuver and outthink her opponents.

Kneib’s success in BJJ is also due in part to her mental toughness and determination. She approaches each match with a calm, focused mindset, and is able to stay composed and make smart decisions even under pressure. She is also committed to continuing her growth and development as a competitor, and is always looking for ways to improve her technique and expand her knowledge of the sport.

Off the mat, Kneib is known for her humility, kindness, and dedication to her community. She regularly volunteers her time to teach BJJ to children and underprivileged communities, and is a role model for young athletes around the world.

Kneib comes from the Gracie lineage of Jiu Jitsu that focuses not only on competition, but on street readiness. Her seminars and lessons are geared towards real-world scenarios and even her instructional series, “Tiny Woman’s Guide to Guard” leans in the direction of fully embracing the idea that a smaller person can learn to control and escape from a larger one.

Looking ahead, Kneib has stated that she plans to continue competing in BJJ and hopes to continue improving her skills and technique. She also plans to use her success in the sport to inspire and motivate others, and to give back to her community through teaching and mentoring. With her talent, work ethic, and dedication, there is no doubt that Ann Kneib will continue to make a mark in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for years to come.
