What this article covers:

Growing up in Courneuve, France, André Zeitoun was born into a family of boxers and naturally gravitated towards combat sports such as boxing, Karate, and rugby. However, it was not until he discovered the sport of Muay Thai, also known as Thai boxing, that he became truly passionate about martial arts.

Muay Thai Building Blocks by Ajarn Andre Zeitoun

At the age of 15, André joined the renowned club of Roger Paschy, a pioneer of Thai boxing in France. He went on to become the Junior French Champion in 1984 and 1985, with an impressive record of 19 fights, 14 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws.

In 1986, André traveled to Thailand for the first time to hone his skills in Muay Thai. He trained at various camps before finally settling at Pat Ruang Luang, led by Master Den in ChonBuri, located 120 km east of Bangkok. Although he made several trips to Thailand, André primarily trained at Pat Ruang Luang but also visited other highly reputable camps such as Kyatsongrit, Vorapin, Galaxy gym, and Chitalada.

In 1990, André opened a Thai Boxing section at the Daumesnil club in Paris' 12th arrondissement, which was managed by former Judo champion Sanchis Michel. He spent 15 years at the Daumesnil club, during which he coached a team of world-renowned champions, including the world-famous heavyweight kickboxer, Jerome Lebanner.

He also trained renowned champions for years, such as the star of kickboxing Kamel Chouaref with whom he won 5 world championships, Totof, several-time French and European Muay Thai champion and the first Maltese boxer in history to win the European championship title.

Between 1996 and 2002, André became coach of the Israeli national Muay Thai team, winning several medals at various international championships.

In 1993, he finally met his childhood idol, the great Japanese star and champion Toshio Fujiwara, the first foreigner to win the championship title at Bangkok's Rajdamnern Stadium in 1978, 6-time champion of Japan and two-time world champion.

André became close friends with Sensei Fujiwara and in 1999, the Japanese legend came to Paris and other parts of France to give workshops and demonstrations at André Zeitoun's invitation.

In July of 2005, André Zeitoun established his own club, the Team Zeitoun, in Paris' 9th district. The club's popularity led to a relocation to a larger venue in the 11th district. Zeitoun remains active in both national and international Muay Thai competitions, with his team consistently achieving impressive results. His reputation has led to high demand for Muay Thai workshops throughout France and around the world, including in Malta, Spain, Israel, Tunisia, Morocco, the USA, Italy, Luxembourg, Hungary, Japan, South Korea, Chile, and Germany.
