Chinzo Machida is a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter from Belem, Para, Brazil. Known for his Shotokan style of fighting, Machida’s professional record currently stands at 5 – 3 – 0 and he is ranked #202 Featherweight MMA fighter. Chinzo competes in the world renowned Bellator MMA promotion and his last fight was June 24, 2017 where he lost to James Gallagher by rear naked choke submission. While competing for Bellator, Chinzo has had wins over Jamar Ocampo, Mario Navarro, Dmitry Gerasimov, Brian Wood, and Christiana Rosa. All but one of his victories were won by knock out. Chinzo Machida is the older brother of Lyoto Machida, who is also a very successful mixed martial artist also having competed for Bellator and the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Chinzo Machida is currently a karate instructor at the Machida Karate Academy Dojo in Lomita, Los Angeles California.
Chinzo Machida was born on March 9th, 1977 in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Chinzo is the son of Yoshizo Machida and Ana Claudio. Chinzo Machinda has been training karate since the age of 4. He is a feather weight athlete, standing at a height of 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing around 65kg. Chinzo made his professional Mixed Martial Arts debuat in 2005 against Cristiano Rosa during the Jungle Fight event, JF – 4. Chinzo won this match against Rosa by TKO in the first round of the match. His first professional lost would be against Barayan Rafiq during JF – 6.
Chinzo Machida style of fighting shares many traits with his younger brother, but differs in a few crucial ways. Machida fights at long range, picking his shots and using distance as a barrier. Both Machida brothers do this in order to counter opponent’s lunges with straight punches. Chinzo Machida often fights with an orthodox style, meaning that he uses his lead hand to parry or trap his opponent’s lead hand. Chinzo will also use the orthodox stance to kick to his opponent’s open side.

Chinzo Machida is a 12 time National Brazilian KUMITE Champ, Kumite SILVER Medalist of 2006 JKA World Championships, 2013 MMA Knockout (KO) of the Year Award Winner, Brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is the Coach of Lyoto Machida and as a team they were undefeated in 2009 resulting in Lyoto winning the UFC Championship belt.
