The Deepest Half by Dallas Niles
Dallas Niles surfaced on the competition scene at blue belt, with his win in the open weight category at the 2012 IBJJF Open in Dallas, Texas. From then on, he’s repeatedly shown up in both regional and national tournaments. He plays a very strong half-guard game, which is unique for an ultra heavyweight competitor, and has recently produced some awesome content to show his system off.
In the early 2010s, Niles helped to start an apparel company, 1914 Jiu Jitsu, which sponsored Rafael Lovato Junior. Dallas’ black belt is under Rafael Lovato, and he and the family have a long history. He was formerly a coach at Lovato's School of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts in Oklahoma City, OK., but now focuses on his own competition career at the highest levels.
After retiring from his coaching position at Lovato’s BJJ, he began to focus on filming video content while continuing to make a showing in major tournaments. He competed in the Masters category at the World Championships in 2021 and, as he’s already logged several wins at regional IBJJF Opens this year, will likely be back for more in 2022.
