Dallas Niles: Record, Net Worth, Weight, Age & More!

Who is Dallas Niles?

Dallas Jay Niles is an American black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and a top competitor in the national submission grappling circuit at ultra heavyweight. He’s competed at several IBJJF Opens and even the 2019 World Championships. Now he’s moved up to the Masters division and was a competitor at the 2021 World Master Championship. Niles has also been featured in a superfight for Seth Daniels’ promotion, Fight to Win Pro.

The Deepest Half by Dallas Niles

Dallas Niles surfaced on the competition scene at blue belt, with his win in the open weight category at the 2012 IBJJF Open in Dallas, Texas. From then on, he’s repeatedly shown up in both regional and national tournaments. He plays a very strong half-guard game, which is unique for an ultra heavyweight competitor, and has recently produced some awesome content to show his system off.

In the early 2010s, Niles helped to start an apparel company, 1914 Jiu Jitsu, which sponsored Rafael Lovato Junior. Dallas’ black belt is under Rafael Lovato, and he and the family have a long history. He was formerly a coach at Lovato's School of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts in Oklahoma City, OK., but now focuses on his own competition career at the highest levels.

After retiring from his coaching position at Lovato’s BJJ, he began to focus on filming video content while continuing to make a showing in major tournaments. He competed in the Masters category at the World Championships in 2021 and, as he’s already logged several wins at regional IBJJF Opens this year, will likely be back for more in 2022.

Dallas Niles Fight List

As a grappler, Dallas Niles has had far too many bouts to list them all here. To get an idea of his level of skill on the mat, we can look at his early open weight championship as a blue belt in the 2012 IBJJF Dallas Open.

He followed that performance up with trips to the World Championships, the World Master Championships as a black belt under Rafael Lovato, and invitational spots on superfights for F2W.

Dallas Niles's Best Fight of All Time

For a fighter like Dallas Niles, it’s hard to pin down one amazing moment in a career full of highlights. In an old interview, he mentioned that his proudest moment was the first time he ever won money doing Jiu Jitsu. He recalls qualifying for an event through a 3-match trial with no time limits. He used the prize money to book his flight to his first major tournament, the Rio Open. Looking back, Dallas says, this moment was life-changing.

Who Did Dallas Niles Lose To?

Dallas Niles’ is still actively competing, and that means taking occasional losses to fuel the fire. At the 2022 Atlanta open, Dallas faced off against Breck Still. The match was closely fought, with Breck on top but unable to pass Niles’ half-guard while in bounds. After a restart, Breck jumped out of half guard and played open positions before eventually passing to side control with only seconds left to secure the victory.

He has teamed up with BJJ Fanatics to create “The Deepest Half” and “Total Crucifix Back Attacks”. The two have very different focuses, as one is devoted to the top game and the other to the bottom game. What they share is Niles’ easy-to-follow structure that includes the entries, setups, and sweeps you need to start incorporating half guard into your game today.
