Osvaldo Moizinho

Osvaldo “Queixinho” Moizinho is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt who earned his rank while training under the Soul Fighters founding members Rafael “Formiga” Barbosa, Leandro Escobar, Bruno Mendes and Augusto “Tanquinho.” Osvaldo’s nickname “Queixinho” means “little chin” in Portuguese. This ironic nickname was given to Osvaldo due to his prominent jaw line when he was around 14 years old. Osvaldo is known for the time he spent as a student and team mate of Caio Terra. He is also known for being the founder of the Ares JJ Team. As a Rio de Janeiro native, Osvaldo Moizinho made his name in the sport’s international competitive while competing in the United States and conquering Pan American and World Championship titles.

Osvaldo Moizinho Biography

Osvaldo was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 18th, 1986. Osvaldo was introduced to martial arts through judo while growing up in Tijuca. Osvaldo did not only learn judo, he tried a variety of combat styles such as boxing, muay thai, and luta livre esportiva before settling with jiu jitsu. Osvaldo’s first jiu jitsu coach was Andre Terencio. Andre was the found of the Brazil 021 team. Osvaldo was Andre’s student all the way up to brown belt. He moved to Chicago in the United States in 2008. It was here that Osvaldo chose to join the recent founded Soul Fighters team.

Soul Fighters were a strong new team with fantastic coaches. This included the founders Rafael “Formiga” Barbosa, Leandro “Tatu” Escobar and brothers Bruno “Tank” and Augusto “Tanquinho” Mendes. Queixinho was awarded his black belt in 2011 from these four coaches. After receiving his black belt Osvaldo took part in the Pan American Jiu Jitsu Championships hosted in Los Angeles, California. Queixinho was invited to stay by Caio Terra and Samir Chantre after the tournament. Osvaldo would go on to be a professional athlete and competing in some of the best grappling tournaments.
