Kristian Woodmansee Biography
Kristian Woodmansee was born in Marlton, New Jersey, in the United States on November 3rd, 1987. At the young age of 20, Kristian decided to try jiu jitsu. He took a class at Shaun Smith’s Balance Studios in Philadelphia, PA. Kristian immediately fell in love with the sport and was very comfortable on the mats. Training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu quickly became a part of Kristian’s daily life style. Once Kristian earned his blue belt he decided to go in search of an academy with a more competitive training environment. It was then that he discovered Team Lloyd Irvin would be able to provide the training he was seeking. Team Lloyd Irvin was arguably the strongest team on the East Coast in the US at the time. It was here that Kristian would train with high level competitors such as Wilson Reis, JT Torres, and Jared Weiner.
At the purple belt level, Kristian Woodmansee parted ways with Team Lloyd Irvin and moved to Miami, Flordia in search of warmer weather. It was here that Kristian trained with Cyborg Abreu for 10 months. Then Kristian relocated to Las Vegas Nevada. In Nevada Kristian became a head instructor at Drysale Jiu Jitsu head quarters, owned by lead instructor and top competitor Robert Drysdale. Robert promoted Kristan to brown belt in 2012 after Woodmansee medaled in a few high level IBJJF tournaments, including the Pan American Championships and the Las Vegas open.
Once Kristian Woodmansee reached brown belt level he began travelling to Atos Jiu Jitsu in San Diego, California to train before all major tournaments with some of his former Team Lloyd Irvin team mates. Because Kristian trained so often at Atos Jiu Jitsu he eventually decided to switch camps in 2014.
2016 was a busy year for Kristian. He was promoted to black belt in December by Andre Galvao, an Atmos Jiu Jitsu team leader. Kristian also started work as a grappling coach in Michigan while training and competing regularly in 2016. This would also be the year Kristian would make his professional Mixed Martial Arts debut. As it currently stands in 2019, Kristians professional MMA record remains at 1 – 0 – 0 after his single bout at straw weight.
