ADCC Spotlight: Gordon Ryan
Posted by Fanatics Authors on
The ADCC World Championships are coming up this weekend, so let's take a look at some of our BJJ Fanatics family members who have been invited to compete.
Next up is Gordon Ryan, who is included in the -99 kg division.
Ryan is a Jersey boy who was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by Miguel Benitez, though Ryan later met Garry Tonon and began studying under him. Ryan would later become Tonon's first student to reach the level of black belt.
Along with Tonon and his master, Tom DeBlass, Ryan also began studying under John Danaher at the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York.
Ryan's first place win in the IBJJF World No-Gi Championships as a brown belt served notice that a major talent had arrived on the BJJ stage.
And his victories in the IBJJF Pans No-Gi Championship (2018), IBJJF World No-Gi Championship (2018), and ADCC World Championship (2017) have confirmed that he is a new face to be reckoned with.
Ryan's adoption of the nickname "The King" as well as his tendency to wear a crown have attracted even more attention (and some criticism) to this rising star.
We'll see if he is crowned with another honor this weekend.Systematic is more than just a buzzword when talking about Gordon Ryan's Guard Passing. Gordon Ryan breaks down guard passing to microscopic details that have never been explained on film before. Systematically Attacking The Guard By Gordon Ryan is widely regarded as one of the best guard passing instructionals, and will SURELY increase your GUARD PASSING!
