Bernardo Faria Reflects On the IBJJF Worlds
Posted by Fanatics Authors on
Bernardo Faria is one Brazilian Jiu Jitsu's most decorated athletes. As a five time gold medalist at the IBJJF World Championships, his place in the history of the sport is secured. This past weekend, for the first time in a decade, Bernardo Faria watched the 2018 World Championships as a spectator. Though it was a bittersweet experience, in that he greatly misses competition, he was very excited by many of the highlights he was able to experience in Long Beach this year.
Check out the video below where Bernardo describes many of the highlights of the weekend's matches at the Pyramid in Long Beach. First and foremost for Bernardo is the noticeable explosive growth of BJJ around the world with the gold medal victories by multiple Americans and performances by other athletes around the globe.
There were also a number of special moments that transcended the competition from people like Lucas Lepri, Marcus "Buchecha" Almeida, and Bruno Malficine who secured his 10th World Title and left his black belt on the mats as a symbolic gesture of retirement from competition.
After you check out the video, make sure you check out Bernardo Faria's latest instructional release from BJJ Fanatics "Foundations of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu" available in convenient On Demand format.
