Most Iconic MMA Shorts In The UFC

Before the horrible Reebok deal came to fruition in the UFC, all the fighters had ways of showing their own identity and style. And they were able to do that through their MMA shorts. No one wore the exact same shorts, and it was cool to see how our favorite fighters wanted to fight in style. To me, these fighters were like superheroes putting on their costumes before going into battle. And when you think of these fighters, you not only remember their fights, but you remember those shorts too. Here are five of the most iconic shorts worn by fighters that fought in the UFC.

Brock Lesnar’s Warrior Shorts

There was a lot of skepticism when Brock Lesnar came to the UFC. Though he was a highly toughed college wrestler, people hated on him because of his championship stint in the WWE. He soon put the skeptics to bed, when he beat Heath Herring, Randy Couture and Frank Mir in fights during his first UFC run. He was even able to capture the UFC Heavyweight title. Everyone remembers his Warrior brand trunks. He always wore black/white or black/red. It was Brock that caused a big surge in Warrior gear.

Rich Franklin’s American Fighter Shorts

One of the most underrated champions ever to grace the octagon, Rich “Ace” Franklin was the dominant middleweight champion before Anderson Silva would come to the UFC. Known as a well rounded fighter with his specialty being striking, Rich was a well respected, and humble champion. One of the things that everyone remembers is the unique trunks that he wore. Nothing flashy or tough about them. Half pink, half brown. Rich let his fighting speak about his toughness.

Anderson Silva’s Vale Tudo Shorts

Anderson Silva will go down as the most dominant champion of all time. While his later career has been on a down slide, at his prime, no one could touch him. He was so good that he would literally play around in the ring, before beating down his opponent. Anderson was the modern day Bruce Lee in the octagon. Unlike most fighter’s, he didn’t wear board shorts. He chose a simple yellow and black long vale tudo trunk. That paired with his DMX intro will always give me chills.

Tito Ortiz’s Punishment Athletics Shorts

Controversial, entertaining, and a former UFC champion, Tito Ortiz was the spectacle in the cage. Some people loved his attitude, and others hated it. He always fought tough competition, and while he didn’t always win, he always brought his A game. His Punishment Athletics trunks with the flames really said that he was “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy”.

Chuck Liddell’s Iceman Shorts

Another fighter on our list that will go down as a UFC legend. Chuck Liddell was the face of the UFC for quite some time. He knocked out everyone that he went against. His heavy hands, interesting hair style and Iceman trunks really set his image in stone. Chuck’s icy demeanor and crowd pleasing fighting style will make sure that he is always remembered.
