Nate Diaz Returns?
Posted by Fanatics Authors on
For all the Diaz fans and haters out there buckle up. It’s been quite a roller coaster as of late when it comes to Nate Diaz making a return to action. While the prospect of him returning is exciting, there has been much speculation of possible opponents. Saturday it was announced that he’d be making his return against Anthony Pettis in August.
While many people have mixed feelings about a Diaz return, it’s kind of hard to blame them. Dana White has come out and spoke about the Nate Diaz situation and was all too sure that Diaz wasn’t coming back. Dana White might’ve said exactly what Diaz needed to hear. You can see a quick interview with Dana here where Mr. Diaz makes an appearance. Check at around the 2:45 mark.
Nate Diaz is set to match former Lightweight champ Anthony Pettis in a Welterweight at UFC 241. This event is set for August 17th. That gives us three months before we get to see Diaz fight for the first time since his classic battle with Conor McGregor at UFC 202 in 2016.

At one point Diaz was slated to take on now Interim Champ Dustin Poirier, but The Diamond had to pull out due to injury. Much to the dismay of the fans. Although Diaz has spent much of his career fighting at 155, his last two fights have been at 170. So it’s unlikely we will get to see Dustin Poirier take on the Stockton native.
Anthony Pettis has found a rejuvenation to his career at Welterweight. When his fight with Stephen Wonderboy Thompson was announced many fans were left scratching their head. Pettis had been finding mixed success at both 145 and 155. Low and behold the former Wheaties athlete was able to take down one of the top Welterweights in the world with a KO of the year contender. Off of the cage nonetheless.
Diaz might be one of the few athletes who could take as long of a hiatus and not suffer from ring rust. Both Diaz brothers have a reputation for always being in phenomenal shape. They maintain an active triathlon training routine as well as keeping busy with their boxing, Jiu-Jitsu, and a little nunchaku action.
If you are a fan of the Diaz Brother’s no-nonsense approach to fighting and life, you’ll love Chael Sonnen’s Gangster Grappling.
