Urijah Faber Set To Return At UFC Sacramento

Posted by Fanatics Authors on

UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber is set to return to the Octagon in his hometown of Sacramento. He is set to take on undefeated UFC prospect Ricky Simon who is fresh off a win against Jiu-Jitsu ace Rani Yahya. There had been rumblings of a California Kid comeback, and it looks to be the case.

It was easy to speculate that Faber would make an eventual comeback for the UFC. After retiring at the end of 2016 Faber never left the USADA testing pool. While many were happy to see Faber go out on top with a victory over Brad Pickett, Faber must feel he has more to prove. He also has remained active in the competitive circuit.

Faber has always been known for his grappling skills and most recently they were on display at Polaris 10 against one of the sport’s prodigies. That prodigy was none other than Nicky Ryan. The match was a grinder, but it went how most expected.

Although some would say Faber already made his MMA comeback. Throughout his match with Ryan it looked as though Faber was trying to bully his way to victory. Constant snapdowns, face pushes, and palms to the face were the extent of Faber’s gameplan. That said his leg didn’t get twisted off so chalk that up to a win. This is especially good since UFC Sacramento is on July 13th!

Faber has fought the very best in the sport. Looking at Faber’s mma resume’ it’s a who’s who of MMA. Dominick Cruz, Frankie Edgar, and Jose Aldo are just some of the names that jump to the top right away. The UFC isn’t just feeding him someone for his comeback fight either. Ricky Simon is no slouch. He has gone 3-0 in the UFC and has been fairly dominant so far in those three bouts.

Passing the guard can be a tricky endeavor. A good guard player has traps set on top of traps just waiting for you to slip up. There are no tricks to passing the guard. Good passers implement a system. Gordon Ryan might just be one of the best guard passers today. The reason is because he implements a 3-part systematic approach to ATTACK the guard. If you’ve been stuck trying to pass the guard and find yourself constantly getting swept you need Mr. Ryan’s assistance.
