Gabriel Arges Wins Gold at the 2019 IBJJF Worlds

In a match that held the crowd on tenterhooks in the Pyramid at Long Beach, California, Gabriel Arges became this year's gold medal winner at Middleweight. In the final match, he met the talented Isaque Bahiense on the mat and battled through until the end wherein he won by a single advantage point.
From the opening guard pull, Arges found himself behind but managed to expertly climb his way back to an even score with expert control of the left leg of Bahiense. Indeed, the bulk of the match was spent in a 50/50 stalemate with each fighter looking for a split second to make a move to control. However, Arges' control of Bahiense's knee kept him with advantage until the final seconds when through an attack attempt at a toe hold and knee bar combination Gabriel grasped a final victory by single advantage point.
