Renegade Loop Choke from Kurt Osiander

If you've been a BJJ practitioner for any length of time, you've heard of Kurt Osiander. It's hard not to hear Kurt Osiander, with his kick you in the teeth, heavy metal persona, he has garnered legions of fans and students who follow his wildly popular "Kurt Osiander's Move of the Week" YouTube Channel.

He's also famous for a few catch phrases like "Shut up and train" and when asked what to do from a certain position, if the news is bad, Kurt is found of saying "You F**ked Up a long time ago!" Kurt brings with his unique internet persona decades of training under the famed Gracie Family, beginning with Cesar and then ultimately earning his rank from Ralph Gracie, brother of Renzo Gracie and the late Ryan Gracie. He now serves as head instructor at Ralph's prestigious academy in San Francisco and has been instrumental in producing a number of high level competitors like Sean Roberts amongst others.

Kurt sets up this loop choke from a standard side control position. When Bernardo attempts to make this escape, Kurt will control the ascent and loop his arm around Bernardo's head securing a 4 finger grip in the lapel.

Once this grip has been secured, he will take his other arm and place it behind Bernardo's head putting the pressure into the choke. The choke will be extremely tight at this point as the lapel grip and the arm behind his head form counter pressures.
