The Best Fight Scene from a 90’s Sitcom is Reenacted on the Mats

Posted by Fanatics Authors on

“Hey, hey, hey, hey! What is going on here?”

Debuting in 1989, Saved by the Bell became an instant classic. Zack, Slater, Screech, Kelly, Lisa, and Jesse kept us coming back for more season after season, and even into the college years. From hanging out at the Max, forming the bands, trips to the beach, and everything in between, Saved by the Bell’s characters made us believe in their friendships, fights, and love connections. More importantly, they also made us believe that high school lasts a decade.

It should be exciting for fans of the show to know that AC Slater and Zack Morris are rekindling their bff status, but this time on the mats. The two sitcom pals are both blue belts in BJJ! Recently Mario Lopez, the real Slater and “All American Cheesecake”, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, the Zack-Attack himself, posted a sweaty post-roll photo together to commemorate their training session.

I know, I know. Jesse Spano singing “I’m so excited” is on repeat in your brain right now. Seeing these friends together again makes us believe in the magic of BJJ not only to keep us in shape and help us defend ourselves, but also to piece our childhoods back together.

And maybe, if Zack had begun training BJJ a few decades earlier he would have done a better job defending Slater’s take-down here.
