Results! - Grapplefest 4
Posted by Aaron Benzrihem on
On February 23, 2019, the British promotion "Figure 4 Promotions" held their Grapple Fest 4 event at the Fusion Liverpool nightclub in Liverpool. The main event was a fifteen minute, sub-only no gi match between Polaris 185 and 205 champion, Craig Jones, versus IBJJF World Champion Gabriel Arges. This was an interesting matchup as Craig is a no gi specialist, and Arges is primarily a gi competitor. Arges was a late replacement for World No Gi Champion and IBJJF Silver Medalist, Jackson Souza. During the match, Arges attempted to implement his excellent guard game, but Jones' no gi top pressure proved to be too great, and Jones was able to pass Arges' guard, achieving mount, as well as taking his back and winning by Rear Naked Choke Submission.

Other notable wins were Lachlan Giles, Craig Jones' main instructor and training partner, and IBJJF World No Gi Bronze Medalist, defeating Bradley Hill of Gracie Barra by outside heel hook. As well as Ffion Davies, coming off her big IBJJF World No-Gi championship win, to defeat Christine Martin by rear naked choke.
