These techniques come from the blending of Kobukai Jujitsu (Japanese Jujitsu) and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

#1: Punch Defense using TRITAC Frame 1 – Framing is the concept of covering your head and protecting yourself at all levels. Learn how to defend against a haymaker punch and enter into grappling range with TRITAC Frames. This is a vitally important aspect for all jiu jitsu for self defense. If you cannot connect with your opponent, you will be unable to grapple with your opponent.
#2: Learn the Jiu Jitsu Takedown Osoto Gari from an over hook control. Osoto gari is one of the original throws of Judo as developed by Jigoro Kano. It belongs to the first group, Dai Ikkyo, of the traditional throwing list, Gokyo (no waza), of Kodokan Judo. It is also included in the current 67 Throws of Kodokan Judo. It is classified as a foot technique, Ashi-Waza.
It is also one of the first takedowns any jiu jitsu student does… IF they do takedowns. It is a relatively low risk takedown, and if your body position is correct, it’s a huge takedown that puts you right in side control or knee on belly.
#3: The standing Jiu Jitsu Arm bar technique that is an easy self defense and combat jiu jitsu submission technique. It comes from the Japanese Jujitsu application of fighting, but also leads perfectly to the seated arm bar version commonly seen in BJJ. The difference is that in Japanese Jujitsu you learn to stay on your feet due to the strong possibility of a weapon - Samurais have sharp blades :)
#4: Side Control Escape. Side Control is one of the most difficult positions to escape from. There are many variations of the side control escape, but learning the basic one and the principles behind it will allow you to escape side control.
#5 Getting back to your feet. This is an underutilized Jiu Jitsu technique that applies to self defense, Jiu Jitsu training and MMA. If you are unable to get back your feet, you are essentially waiting to get your ass kicked.
Many of these principles can be found in Old School Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. But a lot of these skills have been replaced by the more flashy and creative guard techniques.
