The Return Of Jon Jones To UFC 232

Posted by Fanatics Authors on

Will Jones stay this time?

A few days past, the UFC confirmed that Jon Jones will return to the UFC ring to fight Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC 232 on December 29th. This announcement came soon after USADA set forth a 15 month retroactive suspension, dating back to July 2017. From this, Jones becomes eligible to fight at the end of October 2018.

His tumultuous past, filled with multiple USADA violations, and a hit and run arrest, can Jones keep it together to cement his legacy in the UFC? Can he mark his place in mixed martial arts history as one of the best fighters of all time. On December 29th, this will all be tested. Can he come back from all the controversy? Can he get back on his old ways as a dominant champion?

Jon Jones is seen as one of the greatest light heavyweights, if not one of the best, mixed martial artists of all time. Technically, he has only one loss on his record, coming from a disqualification loss in 2009. If you look at it realistically, he has never really lost a fight. From there, he made his way through the UFC Light Heavyweight roster, becoming champion while never losing a fight. Some believe he was set to move up to the Heavyweight division, and make a run for that title as well. How do you think he would have fared in that division?

The upcoming fight with Gustafsson is very intriguing, since there last fight was a 5 round war. Gustafsson really tested Jones on the feet, giving him a good beating over the entire match, but with Jones coming out on top. We really haven’t seen much from either fighter recently. Jones with all his USADA/legal issues, and Gustafsson not fighting in the cage since May 2017. Both have some time away to make up, and will be gunning to hit the ground running in December.

Do not miss UFC 232 on December 29th. It is growing to be a phenomenal card. Along with the Jones/Gustafsson fight, Cris Cyborg faces Amanda Nunes for the Women’s Featherweight Championship. It is shaping up to be a big night!
