Worlds Flashback: Bernardo Faria vs. Luiz Panza 2013

Posted by Fanatics Authors on

With the 2018 IBJJF World Championships set to start this week, let's take a look at some pivotal matches from the past.  Our first worlds flashback is a grueling semi final match between the legendary Bernardo Faria and his opponent Luiz Panza.

Check out the match below:

Though Panza quickly pulled guard and established a dominant position, attempting a triangle of his own along the way, Bernardo Faria was able to persevere and grind out his own tenacious pressure passing to secure a dominant position of his own.

Bernardo would showcase his the power of his Over Under pass in this match against the always tough Panza and would ultimately prevail with a victory via triangle choke.  Bernardo Faria would go on to the finals to defeat Joao Rocha via points in the finals.
